Dr. Eileen Kane will present three biblical paintings as a meditation during Lent. The parish is indeed privileged to have Eileen with us as not only is she an international History of Art academic (University College Dublin) but a woman of deep faith who is a Minister of the Word in her Dublin parish. The meditations will take place immediately after the 10am Mass on Wednesday 22/29 March and Wednesday 05 April.
Her presentation which will take place in the church is called:
‘Art and the Passion of Christ’ and will focus on the most beautiful Maestà or Maestà of Duccio which is an altarpiece composed of many individual paintings commissioned by the city of Siena in 1308 by the artist Duccio di Buoninsegna.
Eileen has published extensively on French, Italian and Irish art. She presents a religious painting monthly in Jesuit publication The Messenger.
