When the population of Parishes grew vast, one traditional feature of parish-life became less common : It was no longer always possible for the priest to call round on parishioners, even on a yearly basis - so that you sometimes got people complaining that the priest is never seen on their road. To offer help on this (in however small a way) is the aim of Father David Gaffney. He believes that an Order priest like himself (a Jesuit) with a desk job, can use some of his evenings to assist with the feature of parish life; and he's about to begin some door-to-door visiting in our parish. David is convinced that young men and women are at their most 'self-giving' or generous during the years when much of their time goes into the rearing of their family. And he'd very much like to affirm them in every way possible in this part of their Christian living. He will be visiting parishioners in the Finnstown area very shortly.
