Dear Parishioner,
The Parish is privileged to accompany you along your faith journey in life. We are blessed with the involvement of so many parishioners in a variety of ministries and organiations. We are also blessed with many of our parishioners who contribute to the envelope/standing order collection for the daily running and development of the Parish. Nonethelss according to te audited returns of the year ending 31st July 2009 we are operating at a loss of €300 per week.
The financial facts are:
Our current debt is €200,000 approximately
- We need €3,000 a week to pay the interest on the loan and to run the parish - Our average weekly collection is around €1,600 - We raise about €10,000 per year through other activities
Would you consider making a weekly contribution of between €2 to €5? These are hard financial times for most of us but if you are in a position to assist the parish, we will spply you with box of envelopes. However, we would be delighted if you consider paying by standing order. You can use the form on this flier to sign up. If your annual cotribution is €250 and you are a PAYE tax payer at 20% we can get €62.50 extra as a tax rebate. If you are paying tax at 41% we can get an extra €173.72.
In 2008 we got €10,000 from tax rebates.
CONTRIBUTIONS There are five ways by which people contribute to the running and development of the parish: 1. Planned Giving Envelopes: By taking a box of envelopes and making a contribution each week. We are very lucky to have a good number of envelope collectors who collect these envelopes and leave them at the church each week. Those who don’t have a collector on their road leave their envelope at the church themselves. Application for a box of envelopes may be made at the parish office or at the sacristy. 2. Standing Order: By arranging to have a standing order with their bank. These people make a monthly a three monthly or a yearly contribution to the running and development of the parish. An application for a standing order may be made at the parish office or at the sacristy. Download Standing Order Form here. 3. Direct Payment: A small number of people make a direct payment to the fund. There are envelopes for that purpose in the porches of the church. 4. Buy a Brick Campaign: By contributing to the buy-a-brick campaign. Bricks that were used for the extension are being sold @ €10.00 each. A certificate is issued to each contributor. Enquiries at the parish office or sacristy telephone 01 6281018. 5. Tax Refund: By completing a form for the parish to receive a tax refund from the revenue commissioners [if they have contributed €250.00 or more in a calendar year]. The tax refund for the year 2004 amounted to over €10,000.00. This practically paid for the resurfacing of the grounds in front of the church. We thank all those who contribute through one of the above means to the running and development of their parish. And we appeal to those who don’t make a contribution to consider one of the above ways and in this way they will be helping to alleviate the parish debt. There are three other collections taken up: 1. The first collection at Mass. The proceeds of this collection go towards the upkeep of the priests of the parish, sick and retired priests and priests in less well off parishes. 2. The Christmas and Easter Dues, again for the upkeep of the priests of the parish, sick and retired priests and priests in less well off parishes. 3. The Share Collection [second collection at Mass]. This collection goes directly to the Finance Secretariat at Archbishop’s House and is used for Pastoral Development throughout the diocese. PARISH FINANCE COMMITTEE There is a Parish Finance Committee which meets once a month and gives valuable guidance with regard to the finances of the parish. We would welcome the help of anyone who has some time to spare and would be prepared to help with the parish finances. Contact can be made through the parish office, at the sacristy or with any of the priests. If you want to download the revenue form click here Download Standing Order Form here.
