Welcome to church music at St. Patrick’s Parish. Music is a joyful way of praising God and celebrating the parish community. This pamphlet gives you choices so that you can participate and enjoy your faith tradition.

 

Lucan Gospel Choir

Time: Tuesdays at 8pm. to 9.30pm. @ St. Patrick’s Church, Lucan

Age: Minimum age 18 years old

Cost: €27.00 per month

 

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to perform onstage at venues like the “Olympia Theatre” or in the “Helix” as the headlining act? Well both are past concerts for Lucan Gospel Choir and we are about to start the process to prepare its members to perform at another of Dublin’s top venue. This is an opportunity to join a very well-established and very active gospel choir. We are looking for singing talent, male or female, experienced or just starting out, you should come along to our Open Nights throughout September in St. Patrick’s Church, Esker, Lucan (opposite Superquinn/Supervalue) from 8pm.

Cór Naomh Pádraig:

Time: Tuesdays at 7pm. to 8pm. @ St. Patrick’s Church, Lucan

Age: Minimum age 18 years old

Cost: Free (Choir do collect a small weekly fee for a social fund…..Party On!)

Cór Naoimh Pádraig is the Parish Choir and has about thirty members drawn from all parts of the community. They sing on Saturday evening at the 7 pm.Vigil Mass and on other important liturgical dates. The Choir is at present going from strength to strength and is actively recruiting new members.  There is no formal process required to join, all that is necessary is an interest in singing for liturgy. If you would like further information, please come and have a chat any Tuesday evening – All Are Welcome.

 

Teen Soul Christian Rock Group

Time: Tuesdays at 6.30pm. to 7pm. @ St. Patrick’s Church, Lucan

Age: Students from 6th class to 4th year+

Cost: €15.00 per year

Are you always singing to yourself, but never had the confidence to take centre stage?  Teen soul is a contemporary choir singing current Christian rock music. With no audition and no requirement to read music it is bringing a modern sound to liturgy.

Teen soul is part of a parish Music initiative lead by professional musicians. Director Laura is an internationally successful vocalist and vocal coach and director Ian proprietor of “Vita Media” and ex-lecturer of music at Trinity College and the National University of Maynooth. The choir will perform on the first Sunday of each month at the 10.30 mass.

 

J.A.M. Youth Choir

Time: Tuesdays at 6.30pm. to 7pm. @ St. Patrick’s Church, Lucan

Age: 1st class to 6th class

Cost: €15.00 per year

The vision and ethos of this choir is not only to provide music for the liturgy but also provide an education role to its members. All members will receive classes in basic music theory; learn Tin Whistle along with group singing and performance. The choir will sing on the first Sunday of each month at 10.30 mass.

 

Wigglin’ Worship Parent and Child Pre-Choir

Time: Tuesdays at 6pm. to 6.30pm. @ St. Patrick’s Church, Lucan

Age: Children in pre-school, Junior and Senior infants

Cost: €4.00 per class

Do you have a budding star in the making? Maybe a young Mozart or John Lennon?. Parent & child classes expose your child to a variety of musical experiences while you connect with other parents. Classes cover singing, percussion, keyboard basics and musical playtime. The choir will sing on the second Sunday of each month at 10.30 mass.

 

Esker Folk Group:

Time: Wednesdays at 8.30pm. to 10p.m.@ St. Patrick’s Church, Lucan

Cost: Free

The Esker Folk Group was formed in the early 1980’s and the Group has gone from strength to strength over the years with a steady supply of willing and able singers and musicians. The Esker Folk Group practises on a weekly basis at 8.30pm on Wednesday nights in St. Patrick’s Church. The folk group sing every Sunday at the 12 noon mass.

 

Filipino choir

Sings on one Saturday per month at 7pm  mass

Subsidised piano/keyboard lessons for children:

Time: Monday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday @ St. Patrick’s Church, Lucan

Age: Minimum age 6 years old

Cost: Only €10.00 per 20min. lesson

(Payments are weekly no term payments required)

 Piano Lessons are available on a ‘first-come-first-served’ basis. For students who might never have played before or students might want to pick up where they left off. Classes are one-to-one basis which is a perfect follow on from large class keyboard lessons. Parents are encouraged to sit in on lessons to be more involved in the home practice lesson plan of the student.

 

Piano Lessons for Adults:

Time:   Monday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday @ St. Patrick’s Church, Lucan

Age: Minimum age 18 years old

Cost: Only €20.00 per 30min. lesson

(Payments are weekly no term payments required)

 

A very limited number of places are available for adults interested in learning the piano and organ through sacred music. For people who might never have played before or might want to pick up where they left off – All are welcome.  If you already play to Grade 5 standard, the lessons can be devoted to developing your skills in sight reading, transposition and keyboard harmonisation for choir accompaniment. Classes are on a one-to-one basis.
